She’s Here! Layton Blake Parks made her appearance on February 19th 2020 at 4:16pm.
We have had this little angel baby with us for ONE MONTH! And I say it every time, but time needs to slow down. She is such a good baby, really only cries or fusses when hungry or tired. Occasionally she will get uncomfortable and will groan or grunt if she needs to burp or poop. We have had some good nights and some bad nights of sleep- I guess that’s the newborn life. She holds her head pretty well and likes tummy time most the time! We started getting out some baby toys and Londyn loves to show baby sister all the toys!
She loves to be held and rocked to sleep. Which is kinda hard with a busy big sister around. I have been wearing her so I can get things done like put on makeup or make lunch. She loves it! She loves her swing, watching her big sissy play & has been refusing a Paci. She is eating so well & has taken a bottle from Mitch a few times too! She has some leg rolls which Im loving that she is a little chunky! Big sissy never had rolls so I’m soaking up those chunky thighs!! She is already grown out of newborn diapers & a few newborn clothes are a little tight.
Mitch took two months off this time and we have been enjoying lots of family time! It’s been nice having Mitch home so we can tag team both girls & take turns with both. We ventured out to the zoo for her first trip of many! The zoo is one of our favorite places to playdate so Im glad we had some nice weather to enjoy a family day & we saw some friends while there too!

Birth story & Newborn Pictures:
Decided to get induced on Feb 19th. I really wanted my doctor to be the one that delivered her since with Londyn I didn’t know the doctor on call and didn’t have the best experience. My doctor (Kelly Peters) was open to inducing early so we picked a date that she was at the hospital.
We dropped Londyn off at my parents the night before & that was very tough. I knew it was the best option to drop her the night before because we had to be at the hospital at 730am and didn’t want the stress of taking her to my parents then. Londyn was excited for a couple days at Papa and Gigis but of course i was very emotional about dropping our baby off to go have another baby.
The next morning (February 19) we woke up early, Mitch got us Einstein’s bagels since i was allowed to eat a small breakfast before and then we headed to the hospital. Such a crazy feeling to be headed to have another baby..
We checked in got to our room, got changed into the gown and got settled.. I started pitocin around 9am and then we just wait! I Wasnt feeling much pain or many contractions so they turned up my pitcion twice before i started to feel uncomfortable. The contractions started coming every 2 mins & started getting really uncomfortable but i wouldn’t say painful.
Around noon i decided to get my epidural and as soon as my epidural was done my doctor would break my water. My epidural was the worst part of the entire process. The doctor couldn’t get the needle to go in the right way & i kept feeling shooting pain anytime she tried a new spot. she had to have poked me wrong 5-7 times before finally finding the right spot. My back was very bruised and sore after that. Once it finally worked Kelly came in & broke my water. The epidural maybe wasn’t in full effect cause i could feel the pop when she broke the water. At this point i was around 4cm and she was hoping breaking the water would help get things moving.
So again we just wait for things to progress. I could still feel the contractions so I would press the button to increase the epidural. My nurse then came in and wanted me to stop pressing the button so i could feel the urge to push. Around 3:45 i asked the nurse if i could use the peanut ball (i used this last time with Londyn & it helped moved things along). As soon as being on the ball for a few minutes i could feel things and the urge to poop. Which we all now know means GO TIME! 10 minutes later i was at 8cm, 5 mins later i was at 9. My doctor then came in and i started pushing! I could feel a lot more this time than last time. I pushed through 3 contractions and baby Layton was here! It all happened very fast. She was born at 4:16 pm weighing 6lbs 12oz 19inches. When she first was put on my chest it was such a special moment & Mitch and I both said how much she looked like big sister Londyn.
Pictures from the hospital & Londyn meeting Layton. This was one of the best moments of my life. I knew it would be amazing and that my heart would grow but my heart BURST. I couldn’t control my crying when Londyn walked in. I was so happy to have her meeting her baby sister.
